Evaluate creating a space resources institute. This bill would require the NASA Administrator and the Secretary of Commerce to jointly deliver, within 180 days after enactment, a report to the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation that assesses whether and how to establish an institute focused on space resources. The report would evaluate goals such as identifying, developing, and distributing space resources, reducing technical and business risks, and researching responsible use. It would also compare virtual versus physical institute models and the value of partnering with institutions of higher education, the aerospace industry, and the extractive industry.
