Ban on food dyes in federal purchases

The listed additives are Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Green No. 3, Blue No. 1, Blue No. 2, Citrus Red No. 2, and Orange B. Heads of executive agencies would not be able to enter or renew contracts for foods with those dyes. Agencies would also have to, where available and practicable, give priority to buying foods that contain no color additives. Federal food suppliers and program recipients, such as schools, military dining, and other agency feeding programs, could see different products offered as agencies change purchases.
