Protect public shipyard civilian jobs
This bill would prohibit the Department of Defense from using funds authorized for fiscal year 2026 to impose a hiring freeze at a public shipyard. It would also prohibit using those FY2026 DoD funds to carry out a reduction in force or to delay without cause filling a vacant federal civilian employee position at a public shipyard. The restriction would apply only to actions at public shipyards and only to funds for fiscal year 2026. The bill would not include exceptions, enforcement mechanisms, or a definition of "public shipyard" in this section.
