Sponsored By: Representative Rep. Harder, Josh [D-CA-9]
Introduced
Summary
Extends Federal Direct PLUS loan authority for graduate and professional students at qualifying health-focused institutions. It delays both the end date for PLUS loan eligibility and the start of new graduate loan limit rules so students in these programs keep access longer.

More loan access for health students
If enacted, this bill would let graduate and professional students at certain health and nursing programs keep using Federal Direct PLUS loans until July 1, 2030. You would be eligible if your school is a health professions or nursing program located within 100 miles of a designated health professional shortage area or if it serves a medically underserved community. The bill would also push back the date when specified student loan limit rules take effect from July 1, 2026 to July 1, 2030 for those students. The change does not change loan dollar amounts or other loan terms.
