Hemp Planting Predictability Act
Sponsored By: Representative Rep. Baird, James R. [R-IN-4]
Introduced
Summary
Delays implementation of hemp production amendments by extending the deadline from 1 year to 3 years. The Hemp Planting Predictability Act would change the timing language in Section 781 of Public Law 119-37 by replacing a 365-day window with a three-year window. It would not change the substance of the hemp provisions, fund new programs, alter eligibility, add regulatory requirements, or create new enforcement mechanisms. The bill sets its short title and includes no additional sunset or phase-in rules beyond the three-year delay.

More time for hemp growers
This bill would delay when new hemp rules must start. It would change a 2026 appropriations provision so the implementation deadline moves from 365 days to 3 years. If enacted, hemp growers and hemp businesses would get more time to comply with the amended hemp production rules. The bill would not change the content of the hemp rules, funding, eligibility, or enforcement—only the timing.
