Ban on trading sports and casino contracts

If enacted, the bill would prohibit registered entities under the Commodity Exchange Act (for example, exchanges and clearinghouses) from listing for trading, facilitating, or clearing any agreement, contract, or transaction that is based on, references, or derives its value from any sporting event or athletic competition or any casino-style game. "Casino-style game" would include games customarily offered in casinos, such as slot machines, blackjack, roulette, craps, poker, bingo, lotteries, and digital or simulated versions. "Sporting event or athletic competition" would include live, simulated, or virtual events involving physical or mental skill, including amateur, intercollegiate, and professional sports. The prohibition would take effect upon enactment. Firms that offered these contracts could lose that business, and traders who used those products could lose access.
