Interstate sales for state‑inspected meat

If enacted, this bill would let meat and meat food products inspected under qualifying State programs be shipped and sold across State lines. This would apply only if four rules are met: the Secretary has found the State law acceptable on or after the date 36 months before the shipment; the producing establishment followed the State inspection rules for that product; the product label says it was inspected and passed under a State program for interstate sale; and the State agreed to periodic audits by the Secretary of Agriculture. If enacted, the Secretary would have to write implementing regulations within 90 days of enactment. If enacted, this would expand interstate market access for State-inspected establishments while keeping state audits and labeling as oversight conditions.
