New invasive species checks for fishways
If enacted, the Commerce or Interior Secretary would have to consider the threat of invasive species when prescribing a fishway. The Secretary would also have to consult with the State where the fishway is planned. This would require agencies to factor invasive-species risk into fishway orders and would affect conditions attached to hydropower licenses. The bill does not provide new funding, standards, deadlines, or penalties in this change.
