More support for older foster youth

If enacted, the bill would change the Chafee program to help people who experienced foster care at age 14 or older build and keep long-term supportive relationships with adults, mentors, and peers. It would also direct agencies to help those youth take part in their permanency plan and get written information about available services. The new purposes would take effect one year after enactment. If enacted, the bill would also require HHS to issue guidance within one year, after consulting youth with lived foster-care experience. That guidance would list examples of federally fundable services, best practices for peer support and mentoring, outreach and notification standards, and documentation protocols for case plans.
