Training grants for allied health in underserved areas

If enacted, this would create grants to train allied health workers for primary care in underserved and rural areas. Federally qualified health centers, FQHC associations, certified rural health clinics, and nonprofit vocational programs could apply. A grant could be up to $2,500,000 and must support a model that runs at least three years. Money could pay for partnerships, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, internships, equipment, supplies, and limited training-space renovations. It could not pay for construction or replace existing workforce funding. Funding would be authorized as needed for fiscal years 2026 through 2028 and would stay available until spent. The Secretary would prioritize projects that recruit people from underserved backgrounds and improve access to care.
