Recognizing the value of the Older Americans Act of 1965 nutrition program in addressing hunger, malnutrition, and isolation, and improving the health and quality of life for millions of our Nations seniors each year.

• Older adults and people with disabilities would be recognized for receiving nutritious meals, socialization, friendly visits, and wellness and safety checks that address hunger, malnutrition, and isolation.
• Volunteers and local providers would be highlighted as the backbone that delivers meals and caring visits and that leverages private donations and non‑Federal funds to run programs efficiently.
• The resolution says these local programs help lower Medicare and Medicaid costs by preventing falls, avoiding unnecessary hospital transports and admissions, speeding recovery, and delaying institutionalization.
• It would note the growing over-60 population and encourage support for sustained Federal funding so local providers can keep pace with rising costs and demand.
