Temporary shield for Medicaid and SNAP cuts

If adopted, this resolution would block budget reconciliation bills, amendments, or conference reports that cut Medicaid enrollment or benefits. It would also block measures that reduce SNAP eligibility or benefits. The bar would apply in both the House and the Senate. Protections would start right away and last until January 20, 2029. Related budget timing rules would also run through January 20, 2029 when this protection is triggered. This would not change your benefits today, but it would make it harder to pass cuts through fast-track budget bills.
