Honoring the Georgia Ports Authority on its 80th anniversary and highlighting its role as a national logistics and trade leader. The resolution notes GPA was established in 1945 and operates major terminals at the Port of Savannah and the Port of Brunswick, records more than 609,000 supported jobs statewide, generates about $40.0 billion in income and $171.0 billion in business revenue each year, and contributes roughly $5.3 billion in state and local tax revenue. It cites a 784% rise in container traffic since 1995, Savannah handling about 5.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2024, Garden City Terminal supporting 32 to 33 weekly ship calls and 42 double-stack trains per week with rail dwell times averaging 22 hours in March 2025, daily truck moves of 14,000 to 16,000 with some single-container moves as fast as 35 minutes, $3.2 billion invested over the last decade with $4.5 billion planned for the next 10 years, ongoing Savannah and Brunswick expansions including a $262.0 million upgrade at Colonel's Island and plans to raise vehicle rail capacity to 600,000 units annually, a $6.0 million commitment for local housing support, and the YES+ workforce training program now in its seventh year.
