Reaffirming the freedom to decide and expressing continued support for medication abortion access.
Sponsored By: Representative Gottheimer
Introduced
Summary
Protecting access to medication abortion and the freedom to decide. This resolution would reaffirm federal support for medication abortion and warn that antiabortion extremists are trying to misuse the 19th‑century Comstock Act to push for a nationwide ban. It cites the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel opinion that 18 U.S.C. 1461 does not bar mailing certain drugs when the sender lacks intent that they be used unlawfully. The resolution also condemns restrictions on access to and coverage of reproductive health care.
