Summary
Would raise awareness and spur action on rare cancers by supporting designation of September 30, 2025 as Rare Cancer Day. The resolution notes that about 1 in 5 U.S. cancer patients has a rare cancer, that all pediatric cancers are rare, and that rare cancers cause about a quarter of cancer deaths and have lower five-year survival rates. It says early detection and treatment are harder and encourages awareness, clinical and scientific partnerships, and dedicated funding to improve diagnosis and develop treatments.
