National Campus Sexual Assault Awareness Month would be supported by this resolution to focus national attention on college sexual violence as students return to campus. It highlights that freshmen and sophomores face higher risk, that more than half of campus sexual assaults occur in August through November, that fewer than 12 percent of rapes and attempted rapes are reported, and that many colleges lack confidential reporting, trained staff, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner access, or clear protocols for working with local law enforcement.
