Child Care Nutrition Enhancement Act of 2025

Sponsored By: Senator Richard Blumenthal

Introduced

Summary

A 10-cent additional reimbursement for every Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal and supplement. This bill would add an extra 10¢ per served meal and per supplement under CACFP, tie that amount to an automatic adjustment under section 11(a), and make the increase effective on the first day of the first month after enactment. It would also fold the extra payment into redesigned reimbursement calculations for family and group day care sponsoring organizations and correct related cross-references and a spelling error.

  • Families and children: More support for meals in child care settings. Each meal or supplement served to children would carry an extra 10¢.
  • Child care providers and sponsoring organizations: Higher reimbursements for centers and family/group day care sponsors. The bill reorganizes sponsor payment formulas to incorporate the new extra payment.
  • Program operations: Clarifies statutory text by updating cross-references and fixing a misspelling so the new reimbursement applies consistently across CACFP rules.

Extra $0.10 for CACFP providers

If enacted, CACFP providers would get an extra $0.10 for each meal served. They would also get $0.10 for each supplement served. The payment would start on the first day of the first month after enactment. The $0.10 could be adjusted under the bill's automatic adjustment rule. The bill would also fold this extra payment into the reimbursement math for family and group day care sponsors. Providers must participate in CACFP and submit meals for reimbursement to receive the extra payment.
