Extend government power to prioritize contracts
This bill would extend the Defense Production Act authority in Section 717(a) by one year. If enacted, the authority would expire on September 30, 2026 instead of September 30, 2025. That authority lets the federal government ask or order companies to prioritize certain contracts and shift industrial production. Contractors and suppliers could receive priority orders or be directed to change production. The bill would not add new programs, money, or eligibility changes.
