Summary

Makes ATF firearms trace data discoverable and usable in lawsuits by repealing key protections of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. The bill would repeal Sections 2, 3, and 4 of that law and require that the Firearms Trace System database maintained by the ATF National Trace Center be subject to subpoena and other discovery, admissible as evidence, and usable in civil and administrative proceedings on the same basis as other information.

Allow lawsuits against gun industry

If enacted, this bill would repeal Sections 2, 3, and 4 of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. That repeal would let victims sue gun makers, importers, dealers, and distributors again. It would take effect upon enactment and could raise legal costs for the gun industry.
