Chugach Alaska Land Exchange Oil Spill Recovery Act of 2025

Land swap with Chugach Alaska

This bill would set up a land exchange between the United States and Chugach Alaska. It would define Federal exchange land as about 65,374 acres and non‑Federal subsurface holdings as about 231,000 acres. The bill would list roughly 130,469.93 acres that Chugach Alaska may offer, but the Secretary would decide which listed parcels apply. If Chugach Alaska offers all rights to the listed non‑Federal land, the Secretary would accept and must convey the Federal exchange land within one year after enactment. On receipt of acceptable title, the Secretary would also convey specified Forest Service parcels (~63,414 acres) and BLM/National Park Service parcels (~1,960 acres) to Chugach Alaska. The bill would let Chugach Alaska exclude up to 209 acres for village development or shareholder homesites. It would make the map controlling in case of conflict and let the Secretary and Chugach Alaska jointly correct minor map or acreage errors.
