Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Codify supply-chain security order

If enacted, this would make Executive Order 13873 part of federal law as of the enactment date. The Archivist would append the Order's text when publishing the Act. This could give agencies a stronger legal basis to restrict information and communications technology transactions. If enacted, firms that sell devices or apps to the government could face new limits and higher compliance costs.

New rules for smart high‑watt devices

If enacted, this would define who counts as a "covered entity" and which nations are "foreign adversaries." It would expressly include nations listed in 10 U.S.C. 4872(f) and Venezuela while Nicolás Maduro is in power. It would define "foreign-adversary-controlled applications" and set a 500‑watt threshold for "high-wattage IoT devices." Agencies could use these definitions when considering device limits, labeling, procurement bans, or other security steps. If enacted, households could see some apps or smart-appliance features restricted and manufacturers could face new compliance costs.
