Ban on high-concentration sodium nitrite

If enacted, consumer products that contain 10% or more sodium nitrite by weight would be banned nationwide under the Consumer Product Safety Act. The ban would begin 90 days after the bill is enacted. The rule would not apply to products regulated as drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, or foods, including specified meat, poultry, and egg products. It also would not apply to industrial or commercial uses not customarily made for consumer sale or enjoyment.
