Retroactive pay for Capitol Police

If enacted, the bill would provide, for fiscal year 2026, such sums as are necessary from the Treasury to pay United States Capitol Police officers and employees for work during the funding lapse that began October 1, 2025. It would cover regular pay, allowances, pay differentials, benefits, and other regularly payable amounts for that lapse period. The bill would also pay contractors the Chief of the Capitol Police determines supported officers and employees during the lapse. Expenses would be charged to the applicable Capitol Police appropriation when Congress later enacts that appropriation. The payment authority would end when Congress enacts a Capitol Police appropriation for those purposes, when Congress enacts legislative branch funding without a Capitol Police appropriation, or on September 30, 2026. The bill would take effect as if enacted on September 30, 2025.
