Monterey Bay National Heritage Area Study Act

Summary

This bill directs the Secretary of the Interior to study whether parts of coastal California should be designated as the Monterey Bay National Heritage Area. The study would assess the suitability and feasibility of areas in Monterey, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo counties and any nearby areas with similar heritage. The Secretary must consult the State of California, Tribal governments, local agencies, nonprofit organizations, and partners such as the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership while following the study process set out in federal law.
