New Presidential Fitness Advisory Council

If enacted, this bill would create the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. The council would have up to 30 presidential appointees serving two-year terms. Members would not be paid but could receive travel reimbursement and per diem under federal rules. The President would name an Executive Director to manage daily operations and agency engagement. The Department of Health and Human Services would provide funding and administrative support only if Congress appropriates funds. The council would advise the President on reestablishing the Presidential Fitness Test, promoting school fitness programs and challenges, expanding sports participation, and addressing childhood obesity and military readiness. The council would end two years after enactment unless the President extends it.

Allow federal funds for school fitness

If enacted, the bill would allow amounts appropriated after enactment for the Presidential Youth Fitness Program to be used to establish the Presidential Fitness Test in U.S. schools. The bill would not itself appropriate money. Schools would only run the test if they receive or use those future funds. Families would be affected only if their child's school gets funding and chooses to implement the test.
