Summary

Would provide a free annual National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass for law enforcement officers, firefighters, and members of the Armed Forces and their dependents. This bill would amend the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act so the Secretary could make that pass available at no cost to eligible personnel who give adequate proof. It defines "firefighter" to include federal, state, local, and tribal employees who fight fires, including wildland fires. It defines "law enforcement officer" to include federal, state, local, and tribal officers authorized to prevent, detect, or investigate criminal law violations or to supervise sentenced offenders.

Free parks pass for military and responders

If enacted, members of the Armed Forces and their dependents would be able to get the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass at no cost. Law enforcement officers and firefighters employed by federal, state, local, or tribal governments would also be able to get a free pass if they provide proof the Secretary accepts. The bill defines firefighter to include government employees who directly fight fires, including wildland fires. It defines law enforcement officer to include officers, agents, or employees authorized to investigate or supervise criminal law matters, or to supervise sentenced offenders. The change would take effect upon enactment.
