Bigger child tax refunds for families

If enacted, you would be able to get the refundable part of the Child Tax Credit if you earn at least $1. Under current law, the refundable portion required $3,000 in earned income; the bill would lower that test to $1. The bill would also strike paragraph (6) of section 24(h) of the tax code. These changes would apply to tax years beginning after December 31, 2025, and would mainly help low-earning parents with qualifying children.
