Summary
Automatic HHS Inspector General probes when state program payments rise 10% in six months. This bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General to open an investigation whenever total payments to providers and suppliers under any state program that receives federal financial assistance increase by 10 percent or more in a six-month period compared with the prior six-month period.

This bill would require the HHS Inspector General to open an investigation when a State program that gets HHS federal money pays providers and suppliers 10% or more more in any 6-month period than in the prior 6 months. The trigger compares the total dollars paid in the current 6 months to the prior 6 months.
