Sponsored By: Senator Dan Sullivan
Introduced
Summary
Raises the Medicare geographic payment floors to 1.67 for the state named in current law. This bill would change how Medicare's Physician Fee Schedule is calculated for that state so the practice expense and work geographic indices cannot be lower than 1.67 when computing payments for services on or after January 1, 2026. It directs the Secretary to increase either index to 1.67 if it would otherwise fall below that level.

Higher Medicare rates for providers in State
This bill would raise two Medicare geographic payment indices for services in the referenced State. This would apply to payments on or after January 1, 2026. The Secretary would set the practice expense index and the work geographic index to at least 1.67. After computing the usual indices, the Secretary would increase any index below 1.67 up to 1.67. This would raise Medicare reimbursements for providers who bill Medicare in that State.
