Summary

Medal of Sacrifice would create a federal medal to honor law enforcement officers and first responders killed in the line of duty. The bill would require the President to present the medal to eligible local, state, tribal, territorial, or federal officers and responders, carve out an exception when there is an official finding of wrongdoing, establish a 12‑member unpaid Commission to set eligibility standards and make final award decisions, name initial recipients as Deputies Ralph 'Butch' Waller, Ignacio 'Dan' Diaz, and Luis Paez, and specify a silver medal with 24k gold vermeil and detailed heraldic design.
