Congress would be limited to union-made vehicles
If enacted, this bill would bar two congressional office accounts from buying or leasing a motor vehicle unless the vehicle meets both tests. The vehicle must have its final assembly place in the United States (as defined in 49 U.S.C. 32304). The vehicle must also be assembled by employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement (union workers). The rule would apply to the House Members' Representational Allowance and the Senators' Official Personnel and Office Expense Account starting October 1, 2026, and would narrow eligible vehicles and could raise prices paid from those accounts while increasing demand for U.S.-assembled, union-made vehicles.
