Federal employees get same short leave
If enacted, federal civilian employees covered under title 5 would get the same parental involvement and family wellness leave. They could take up to 4 hours every 30 days and up to 24 hours per year. Agencies could allow or require substitution with annual or sick leave. The bill would also make the same certification rules apply, so agencies could require provider notes or other documentation.
New short family leave for workers
If enacted, eligible private‑sector employees would get a new short leave for school and routine family care. You could take up to 4 hours in any 30‑day period and up to 24 hours in a 12‑month period. You would need to give at least 7 days' notice when practicable. Your employer could require certification and may make you use accrued paid leave instead.
