Summary
Ends federal taxpayer financing of Presidential campaigns. This bill would terminate the income tax return checkoff that lets taxpayers contribute to the Presidential Election Campaign Fund for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2024, abolish the Presidential Election Campaign Fund and its related accounts, and prevent their use for any Presidential election, nominating convention, or candidate after enactment. *Any balances remaining in the fund at enactment would be transferred to the Treasury general fund to be used only to reduce the deficit.*

This bill would end the Presidential Election Campaign Fund checkoff on federal income tax returns for tax years starting after December 31, 2024. It would make Chapters 95 and 96 not apply to any Presidential election, nominating convention, or candidate after enactment. Any money left in the Fund on the date of enactment would be moved to the Treasury general fund and used only to reduce the federal deficit.
