NASA helps Chincoteague replace wells
If enacted, NASA would be able to enter into an agreement for up to five years to reimburse the Town of Chincoteague, Virginia. The payments would cover costs to develop a plan to remove drinking water wells on NASA-managed property. They would also cover costs to establish replacement wells on land the Town controls (by lease, ownership, or easement). The agreement would, to the extent practicable, include removing and relocating the three remaining wells, the site planned for relocation, and a current estimated cost. The cost estimate must include property purchase or lease, engineering, design, permitting, and construction. NASA must send any such agreement to the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee within 18 months after enactment.
