- Students convicted of an offense related to a campus protest would be ineligible to receive Federal Direct Loans.
- Borrowers convicted in that way would be ineligible to have covered loans forgiven, cancelled, waived, or modified under the Higher Education Act, by executive order, or by the Department of Education. Covered loans include Federal Family Education Loans, Federal Direct Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and Health Education Assistance Loan Program loans.

No federal loans for campus protesters
If enacted, this bill would bar people convicted of crimes tied to a protest at a college from getting federal student loan forgiveness, cancellation, waiver, or modification. It would also bar such people from receiving new Part D federal student loans. "Covered loans" would include loans made, insured, or guaranteed under title IV parts B, D, and E and Health Education Assistance Loans. The rule would apply to loans made before, on, or after the bill's enactment and would take effect upon enactment.
