Summary

Keep CFPB student loan guidance
If enacted, this joint resolution would disapprove the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection rule published at 90 Fed. Reg. 20084 (May 12, 2025). That CFPB rule withdrew Bulletin 2023-01 (88 Fed. Reg. 17366; March 23, 2023). The resolution would declare the withdrawal rule shall have no force or effect. As a result, Bulletin 2023-01 would remain CFPB guidance on unfair billing and collection after bankruptcy discharges of certain student loan debts. If you had a student loan discharged in bankruptcy, this would help limit unfair billing or collection by servicers. The resolution would not provide new money or change taxes.
