2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Beginning with taxable years starting after December 31, 2025, you can claim a Maryland income tax credit up to $75 for each antlerless deer you pay to butcher and process and then donate. You must follow Maryland hunting laws. The meat must be processed for people to eat and donated to a venison program run by a 501(c)(3) charity. There is no yearly cap beyond the $75 per deer limit. You cannot carry any unused credit to later years. Venison donation programs must report donor names, addresses, and the number of deer to the Comptroller by January 31 each year.
If you claim the venison donation credit, you receive Maryland’s food-donation liability protection. This shields you from certain lawsuits tied to donated food under state law.
