Up to $250 Maryland teacher supplies deduction

Beginning with the 2026 tax year, eligible Maryland teachers can subtract up to $250 from Maryland taxable income for unreimbursed classroom supplies. Supplies must be used by students in class or by the teacher to prepare for or during teaching. You must be a Maryland resident. Eligible teachers include full-time prekindergarten classroom teachers in publicly funded programs at eligible public providers; lead or consulting teachers in publicly funded pre-K at eligible private providers; and full-time K–12 classroom teachers in Maryland whose academic year ends during the tax year. You cannot include any amount already deducted on your federal return for educator expenses.
