Beginning July 1, 2026, the safety buffer for archery hunting in listed areas, including Baltimore City, is 50 yards from an occupied building. This replaces the 150-yard rule for archery in those places. The 150-yard safety zone still applies to other types of shooting and in areas not listed. Hunters can set up closer to homes; nearby residents may see bow hunting within 50 yards.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the Department of Natural Resources can allow deer bow hunting on each Sunday of the bow season in Baltimore City. You can hunt with a bow on Sundays only if the Department authorizes it. This expands weekend hunting access in the city.
Beginning July 1, 2026, a regulated shooting ground can ask the Department of Natural Resources to allow Sunday hunting as part of its permit. Approval applies only where Sunday hunting is allowed by law. This gives shooting-ground operators another day to host hunts. The law does not set new permit fees.
