No Maryland tax on excluded foreign wages

Beginning with the 2026 tax year, Maryland does not add back foreign earned income that you exclude on your federal return. This applies only to Maryland residents and only up to the federal foreign earned income exclusion limit. Federal rules decide what counts as foreign earned income and the dollar cap. This lowers your Maryland adjusted gross income and your state income tax.
