Beginning July 1, 2026, if you receive a service or vested allowance from the Correctional Officers’ Retirement System and take a permanent, temporary, or contractual job with a participating employer, your pension is not reduced. Your reemployment pay is not reduced for pension member contributions or employer pickup. You keep your full pension while you work for a participating employer.
Beginning July 1, 2026, if you are reemployed by a participating employer while getting a service or vested retirement allowance, you do not earn any creditable or eligibility service during that time. Your reemployment does not increase your future pension.
Beginning July 1, 2026, if you get a service retirement allowance, you cannot start a job with the State, any participating employer, or a withdrawn unit you worked for while it was participating within 45 days after your retirement date. If you accept permanent, temporary, or contractual work with a participating employer, you must tell the State Retirement Board right away.
