Beginning July 27, 2025, the notice to a defendant in Washington small claims court must include four items. It lists the plaintiff’s name and address. It gives a short statement of what the claim is and the amount. It orders the defendant to appear personally on a set date that is at least five days after the notice is served. It also warns that judgment may be entered for the amount of the claim if the defendant does not appear, not that judgment will be automatic.
