Beginning July 27, 2025, the Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission has 16 members. It includes 9 pharmacists, 4 public members, and 2 pharmacy technicians. One seat is for a pharmacy owner, operator, or officer. That seat may be filled by a pharmacist or a public member. If filled by a public member, that person cannot be licensed as a pharmacist or a pharmacy technician.
Beginning July 27, 2025, members are appointed by the Governor with Senate consent. Pharmacist members must live in Washington, have been registered here for the past 5 years, and stay licensed while serving. Public members must live in Washington and cannot be tied to any part of pharmacy, unless the law allows. Terms are 4 years and staggered so no more than two end on the third Monday in January each year. No one can serve more than two 4‑year terms. Each member must take the oath of office and file it with the Secretary of State. The Governor fills any midterm vacancy for the rest of the term.
