Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Corrections workers can bargain supplemental retirement contributions

The Department of Corrections must bargain over employer payments to supplemental retirement benefits for corrections employees. This includes medical plans when the benefits are run by or for the employees’ union. These payments are a mandatory subject of bargaining but are not decided in interest arbitration. The law does not set dollar amounts.

Health care bargaining for state workers excludes retirement contributions

For state employees under the state bargaining law, health care benefits no longer include employer payments to supplemental retirement plans. Those retirement payments are bargained separately and do not count toward the per‑employee health care dollar amount. This changes how unions and agencies total and negotiate health care dollars.
