Beginning July 27, 2025, the state creates a Domestic Violence Co-Responder Account to hold fee money sent to it by law. Spending needs a legislative appropriation and must fund the co-responder grant program; through June 30, 2026, it can also fund other domestic violence services. The Office of Crime Victims Advocacy runs the grant program and gives matching grants to cities and counties. Grants support teams where victim advocates respond with police to domestic violence calls and help victims and families. The program also pays for training and help billing health insurance.
Beginning July 27, 2025, you pay an extra $100 when you get a marriage license. Counties send this money each month to the state treasurer. The funds go into the Domestic Violence Co-Responder Account to support services. This is a one-time fee per license.
