Washington State University’s Division of Governmental Studies and Services convenes a work group on large animal veterinarians. The group studies how to recruit, train, and keep these vets in Washington. It must send a preliminary report by December 1, 2025, and a final report by June 30, 2026. Members include leaders from Agriculture and Health, WSU’s vet school, and the state veterinarian. It also includes reps for veterinarians, farmers, livestock producers, a youth ag leader, the agriculture equity director, and a representative from a historically marginalized community. The work group ends July 1, 2026.
This law only takes effect if it gets funding. If the omnibus budget does not provide specific funding by June 30, 2025, the act is null and void. The appropriation must cite this act by bill or chapter number.
