Beginning June 11, 2026, people doing sprinkler fitting must show a state certificate when a fire code official asks. Not showing it is an infraction. Officials can issue stop‑work orders for uncertified or noncompliant fitting work until it meets the rules. They may require removal and replacement of work by uncertified people when public safety needs it. State representatives must investigate alleged violations, and local officials must promptly notify the director to start an investigation. A “fire code official” is anyone a local government or the state director authorizes to enforce these rules.
