The law creates a state mobile market program to bring fresh foods to WIC and senior farmers market nutrition participants. The program operates only when the U.S. Department of Agriculture provides funding to the department. The department can ask USDA to let mobile markets accept both WIC and senior FMNP benefits. The program also supports local farmers. Beginning March 1, 2026, these rules take effect.
The department sets rules for mobile market operators. Mobile markets must be run by a nonprofit. Rules must also prevent them from competing with farmers markets that take FMNP benefits. These requirements take effect March 1, 2026.
