3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.
Small employers with fewer than 50 workers do not have to pay the employer share of paid leave premiums. If a small employer chooses to pay, the state offers small-business assistance.
Each year, the commissioner uses an actuarial report to set the total premium rate. The total rate cannot be higher than 1.20%. The agency then splits the total into family and medical rates based on claim shares. These amounts can change from year to year.
The state collects a paid family and medical leave premium from your wages. Only earnings up to Social Security's yearly taxable maximum are charged. Your employer may deduct the full family leave premium from your pay. For medical leave, your employer may withhold up to 45% of the medical premium. An employer can choose to pay some or all of your share to lower your deduction.
