Beginning January 1, 2026, the state repeals separate license accounts for architects, funeral and cemetery, landscape architects, real estate appraisers, geologists, and appraisal management companies. Any money left in those accounts on December 31, 2025 moves to the Business and Professions Account, keeping the architects’ specific exception in state law. The State Treasurer makes the transfer after the FY 2025 financial statement is complete, and no later than February 28, 2026.
Beginning January 1, 2026, the Department of Licensing deposits all listed license, registration, certification, renewal, exam fees, and civil penalties into the Business and Professions Account. Money in this account can be spent only after the legislature approves it and only on licensing work. Any leftover money stays in the account and does not go back to the general fund. The director must file a two‑year budget request that shows expected costs and fee income. The director must also publish an annual revenue and spending report for each covered profession by September 30, starting in 2026.
